Geschichte von Boxbel Revision-History of BOXBEL
===================== ==========================
Version 0.9
Erste Version von Boxbel, benutzte Qsort zum Sortieren, nur Quickbbs
und Dbridge wurden unterstützt.
First version of BOXBEL. Used the external utility "qsort" to sort
the statistic files. Only QuickBBS/D'Bridge were supported right now.
Version 1.0
Bugfixes, erste veröffentlichte Version
Several bugfixes, first published version.
Version 1.1
ANSI-Grafik wird eingebaut
Added ANSI-colo(u)rs
Version 1.2
Bug fixed that caused confusion in the sorting routine when
switching to the next month.
Version 1.3 - 1.4
"Kosmetische" Verschönerungen
cosmetic changes
Version 1.5
Replaced "qsort.com" by an internal routine. BOXBEL became fast!
Version 1.6
Die Sortierroutine wurde verbessert.
The sorting-routine was improved.
Version 1.7
Die Farben können selbst gewählt werden.
Colors are now changeable in the configuration-file.
Version 1.8
Was war das doch gleich...?
Well, hum, ehm,... sorry, we forgot...
Version 1.9
FrontDoor wurde nun auch unterstützt.
Der Versuch, irgendwelche Regelmäßigkeiten in BinkleyTerm-
Logfiles zu finden, wurde aufgegeben. :-)
BOXBEL is now supporting FrontDoor-logfiles.
The attempt to find any regularities in BinkleyTerm-
logfiles was given up. :-)
Version 2.0
BOXBEL was completely re-written. The sorting-routine was thrown
out because there was a faster and easier way found to sort the
log-entries by date and time. The result is that BOXBEL V2.0 now
is really fast! BOXBEL now knows whether you are using FrontDoor
or D'Bridge and so the corresponding commandline-switches were
thrown out too. Tommy Roeder appeared on the scene and helped to
improve performance and efficiency.
Version 2.1
Kleinere Ungereimtheiten bei der Farben-Konfiguration wurden
beseitigt. Kleinere Bugfixes.
Several mysteries when creating the colo(u)r-files fixed.
minor bugfixes.
Version 2.2
Zeilenzähler eingebaut. Viele Spezialfälle in system.log nun
berücksichtigt. Quiet-Modus eingebaut.
Line-counter integrated. Many special cases when processing system.log
are now recognized. Included quiet-mode to disable the line-counters.
Sometimes it happens that there is a Ctrl-Z in the frontdoor-logfile.
This causes big problems because the fast reading-routines of BOXBEL
didn't work any longer. The program is now able to recognize a Ctrl-Z
and then switches to an automatic converting-mode in which this
character is deleted. After doing this the program waits
for the sysop to press [enter] for maximum 30 seconds. After this
time the program restarts reading the logfiles.
Version 2.3
When the final test-release 1.99 of FrontDoor was published on 1st of
May, we discovered that Joaquim Homrighausen changed the format of
the logfile. Outgoing calls are now very difficult to process and the
responsible code had to be completely rewritten.
Version 2.4
Verschiedene Spezialfälle in
den Logfiles wurden berücksichtigt.
BOXBEL now supports logfiles of Lynx-Systems. A new option "/R" was
implemented (look at the DOC). The maximum number of entries was
increased to 2000. Several special-cases have been considered. When
you are running BOXBEL in "english-mode" then the default date-format
(dd.mm.yyyy) is converted to mm-dd-yyyy.
Version 2.5
taeglichen Clean-Up geloescht wird.
- Manchmal wurde Highlight-Text nicht auf Normal zurueckgeschaltet.
Dieser Fehler ist behoben.
- Boxbel unterstuetzt nun 5000 (bisher 2000) User bzw.
"System"
wird hierbei ersetzt durch "Calling"
- GFile und aehnliche Programme beschreiben ebenfalls SYSTEM.LOG.
Boxbel bekam dadurch manchmal Probleme.
- Boxbel now no longer complains if one of your logfiles is missing
because you deleted it during system-cleanup-phase.
- Fixed bug in ANSI-file, highlighting wasn't turned off correctly.
- Increased the maximum total number of user/nodes from 2000 to 5000
so Boxbel needs more memory to run now.
- Changed the outfit of the boxbel.asc/.ans-files.
- Boxbel recognizes if you have your logfiles deleted daily and so
the date of all entries are equal. The date will be thrown out
of the listing then.
- Boxbel checks if a mailer-connection was caused by a dial-out by
your system. If so the word "System:" is replaced by "Called:" in
the final report. So you can see which systems were called by you.
- Fixed bug in counting routine if one of the logfiles is empty
(this caused e.g. the message "The last 3 Connections..." but the
list only showed two of them).
- Analyzing of QuickBBS-log is now more reliable.
If you have utilities which write to the system.log then this
won't cause problems any longer.
- If a user logged into QuickBBS, typed his name and then hung up
he wasn't shown in the output-file. fixed.
- While running, Boxbel shows the date and time of the actual
read logfile-entries. Also the total number of users and nodes
is displayed and written to the output-files (have a look at it,
you'll like it!)
- Placed a CHR-12 (CLS) also at the beginning of the ANS-Files.
- If you have any comments, e.g. about what you would like to see in
the output-files, so write a netmail to me (Tommy Roeder 2:246/3).
Most improvements of this version were influenced by boxbel-users.
- Boxbel was tested also with the new QuickBBS 2.61
Version 3.0, major upgrade
- Lynx-logfiles are no longer supported.
- FrontDoor 1.99c is now fully supported. I suggest to switch on all
options in setup/mailer/log except "accounting info", "trivial msgs"
and of course "debug". This will keep your logfiles short.
- D'Bridge 1.30 is NOT supported. Instead I included code for the new
D'Bridge 1.31 which is announced for beginning of september 1990.
Please set dbridge-logfiles to "verbose" mode.
- BoxBel 3.0 works very well with QuickBBS 2.64
- In the report-files you now not only see which systems called in and
were called by you but also how long the connection took.
- Same goes for online-users.
- Baudrate of users is included in the reports.
- New command-line-parameter "/NOCTL" will leave out all QBBS-style
ANSI-control-codes. So the generated boxbel.asc/ans can e.g. be
imported by programs like "Ghostwriter" or similar.
- If you are using TosScan v1.0 together with FrontDoor, then set your
tosscan.log to fd.log (you may have done so already).
BoxBel v3.0 will then inform you about all echomail-sessions which lasted
longer than 5 minutes.
- If you are using D'Bridge (1.31) then you have to change nothing. BoxBel
will include all echomail-acitivies that lasted longer than 5 minutes
into ist report-files.
- You may break BoxBel at any time by pressing [Esc]. It will stop at once
and won't write anything to disk.
